Hello errrybody!
I hope everyone’s well. I am back (well…almost!) I just wanted to reach out, drop a hello, check-in with you (YES! you) and give you a little bit of a sneak peek into my brain and a quick recap of what life’s been like for me these past few months.
Let me just begin by saying, 2023 has been a complete riot (not the good kind).
May 1st : I shut my studio. Gave up the space because it was no longer serving me.It wasn’t an easy decision though because it was my very first studio space. That little 200 something sqft. room saw a rollercoaster of emotions. And I made the decision to shut shop (website) and give up the space because mentally I’d hit rock-bottom (quick side note: the horrid scorching summers fuelled the decision).
Pain Point : I spent weeks trying to not see it as a loss or a personal failure but as a hard (& painful) and much needed decision.
May 25th : I got my patella bones aligned on both knees. Apparently my patellas were hatellas all this while (I am not apologising for that joke!). Here’s the thing about doctors and surgeries though, they downplay the pain and recovery time. I learnt this the hard way for I was told, “oh! pffft smoll surgery…you’ll be in and out in 2 days and a ballerina by day 5”. I am writing this 2+ months after this said “smoll” surgery and I am STILL recovering. So I guess it’s safe to say, take what you’re told with a pinch of salt and plenty ice packs!
Learnings : Bed pan situation is great when you’ve had a surgery torso and above. Otherwise I suggest adult diapers.
June : I don’t know where this month went. Between recovery, physiotherapy, parental unit and friends visits, June just flew by.
Highlight : Ate my weight in some of the juiciest-bestumbest mangoes!
July : The true love kiss that woke me up from this June slumber of pain and mangoes was anxiety and existential dread. I spent this month crying, fretting, and having anxiety attacks over my career and future.
Realisation : The social media (read eww-n-stagram) algorithm monster does not approve of creators taking breaks. The monkeys must perform, the show must go on! So naturally my numbers took a massive hit. Work dried, brain fried, knees cried.
Oh. I got a new tattoo!
August : here we are! I have some big plans for the year ahead. I am going to take it slow but I am also excited to get back in the swing of things. To give you all an idea, there’s going to be some new merchandise (YAY!) some more stories, stalls and events, and workshops.
Long story short, I lived.
Also, trying substack for the first time. I don’t know if anyone’s reading this. If you have reached here, please drop me a hello :)
